[When Aubrey speaks, Eren hesitates, then pulls away from her, arms holding nothing once again. Pushing himself to sit upright, he pulls the blankets off of both of them. The storm is over, and so, too, the moment. Emptiness gnaws at his heart. He fears the moment it will be swallowed again by the void that lives in its place.

[It's time to get himself together.

[Pushing himself up to stand now, he turns away from Aubrey long enough to let his hair down, then put it back up into a new (albeit just as messy) bun. Just like everything else that's happened tonight, it's a very human sight.

[But, all things must return to normal eventually...

[Right?

[He turns to Aubrey.]

Don't over exert yourself with that wound. You can move, but don't be stupid.

It will heal - whether by this world, or on its own.

[It almost sounds as though he's going to leave her, but, then:]

[Eren might be ready to move on, and Aubrey wants to think she is, too… but it stings, a little, when he lets go. She feels exposed.]

[She watches him fix his hair like she watched him sleep. Her eyes still don’t leave him, even when he turns back.]

[“Don’t be stupid?” Oh, buddy. It’s too late for that.]

[Aubrey knows it, deeper than anything, when she replies (and not without some relief),] Guess we’ll find out.

[“We.”

[They’ll be staying close.]
