[Eren adores Hythlodaeus. Making a competition of things certainly does entice him, but the stakes are low, befitting of the lightheartedness that Eren always seems to feel when they're together. There's certainly a lot to process right now, but this river is peaceful, for the moment, and fishing is simple.
[Also, he's going to win. He's going to destroy this lavender siren with everything he has. And he's not going to sit down. Sitting down is for losers.]

[ While he has no intention of leaving the machiya behind, Maruki also isn't as reticent about exploring Lumindeas as most dreamers seem to be. He thrives off the new environment, in fact, rife with new mysteries, potential answers to some old ones, limitless possibilities for what cognitive manipulation they'll experience next. His time being a layabout during the eternal snowy night was sorely needed, but now he spends nearly every day trawling that new land before returning home, and there's somewhere he winds up more often than not. ]

It's interesting to me. The locals regarded the crystal in Somnius almost out of desperation, even before things started going wrong. But here, it seems to be a fully formed religion... or close to one, at any rate.
I've always been fascinated by belief systems like that. I think there's a lot to be learned from them, even if I don't subscribe to them myself.

Where I grew up, fanatics worshipped the walls themselves. Back then, everyone thought they were lunatics. They must have known something no one else did.
That belief system revolved around a power great enough to destroy the world. Not that I've ever thought the crystal was weak.
