She’s barely aware of who else might be here, on land or at sea… if that swath of deep, impenetrable sanguine can be called a “sea.” The liquid is eerily still. And where the shoreline should be, there is no ebbing tide—only a ridge, as if something huge displaced the sand in a zig-zagged line.
